The Infertility Trend We All Never Suspected!

Every new blockbuster has its own season, generally a month or two and when that period ends, we hear less or nothing about it. Unfortunately, the hurricane of infertility is like a blockbuster that has taken a deeper root which is so hard to uproot. Why and what went wrong that this trend has failed to end? It all seems to be a myth!

What Do We Call Infertility?

Infertility is when a couple fails to conceive regardless of having unprotected intercourse for a year, two or more. There are various forms of infertility that can generally be described as male factor infertility, female factor infertility, primary infertility, and secondary infertility.

According to a fertility expert at a leading IVF Centre in Punjab, infertility is a silent issue and progresses with time. Normally, men and women with an infertility predisposition are unaware of it until they begin trying in the future. Otherwise, they would have sought for parenthood during their late teens, 20s, or early 30s.

Currently, the age of a woman plays a bigger role when it comes to conception. Trying to conceive during the early years is quite profitable than during the late years, particularly during the late 30s and in the 40s.

Why Are Millions Battling Infertility?

Infertility is caused by an array of factors, of which some are known whereas others aren’t. However, the good news is that, regardless of the cause of infertility, there are various treatments as well as conception techniques to help a couple conceive.

Unlikely, it won’t be a natural conception, but rather, an assisted conception. According to statistics, the prevalent causes of infertility in men and women are;

  • Ovulation disorders
  • Endometriosis
  • Reduced ovarian reserve due to age
  • Premature ovarian failure
  • Blocked Fallopian Tubes
  • Scarring & Adhesions
  • Low sperm count
  • Recurrent progesterone level
  • A history of a PID ‘Pelvic Inflammatory Disease’
  • STDs, commonly Chlamydia
  • Sperm issues “poor motility, abnormal morphology, poor quality”
  • Blockages in the sperm passage
  • Varicocele
  • Genetic or Unexplained causes

Other silent causes of infertility generally spring from lifestyle ‘habits’ like smoking and diet, commonly strict or fish with polychlorinated biphenyls.

Women with a history of STDs, abortion, miscarriages, PID, PCOS, are advised to undergo periodic screening and tests in order to reduce the risk of infertility in the future. In case married and desire children after several years, it is advised that you plan accordingly and it all starts from a gynecologist’s office.

What Can Be Done About Infertility?

Infertility is commonly treated with the help of medications that either improve ovulation or prepare the uterus to receive a fertilized oocyte. Also, the blocked tubes in a woman can be repaired in case possible.

Natural tips for conception include fertility cleansing, acupuncture, herbal medicines, or holistic approaches. Alterations in one’s lifestyle are also recommended for a natural conception.

On the other hand, advanced cases of infertility will require a couple to consult a fertility expert at the best IVF Centre in India for further evaluation.
